My name is Yana, although online I sound like @pulaulana:

pulau — in the Indonesian language it means “island, ” the place where a new version of me was born (Bali)

lana — the name Lana, because outside of Russia for some reason people read and call me that according to my passport (IANA — even though the first letter is “i”)

For the fourth year I have been living on the beautiful and at the same time contradictory island of Bali, where after many long years I decided to give freedom to my talent and start showing this World my inner potential, which I had always hidden inside. I have never parted with a camera since childhood: from the third grade I filmed home sketches and little series with my friends on my dad’s cassette camcorder, organized photoshoots for my classmates by stretching a white bedsheet on a wardrobe to imitate a photo studio. And with the first appearance of social networks (VK, Instagram) I mastered Photoshop to squeeze the maximum out of the shots taken on my first and very desired Canon 550D.

Up to this day I have walked a long path, and above all an entrepreneurial one: from my own clothing brand and sewing production to becoming a tattoo artist. And no matter which project of myself I was developing — I always created media content on my own. I could not trust the shooting of a new collection to anyone but myself, because I always subtly felt the mood and the visual that I could see and bring to life through the lens of my own camera. But at the same time, for many years I did not believe that this was yet another facet of me that I could share with people, bringing value and the beauty of expression.

I allowed myself to stop hiding from the possibility of receiving incredible pleasure from the process that is, in truth, the most pure and organic of everything I have ever done in my life. Photography and videography are what always stay close to me, to my growth and development as a creator. It is a process of creation where I do not feel time, being in the flow of shooting or editing. And it was precisely this “flow state” that one day “woke me up” and pushed me to begin a new chapter of my life.

I will be happy to work with everyone who feels the authentic; I will be happy to create something special with them, something that may go beyond boundaries, or on the contrary — quietly touch something alive, requiring no words or explanations.
